Main Entrance

What happens when you place images of abandoned buildings, a subject matter that is close in proximity to everyone, but feels so far away simultaneously, in a place that is lively and familiar alongside other images that consist of vibrant subjects? This collection dives into how these photos interact with one another, and how they represent the little details that tend to get overlooked. This might be the abandoned restaurant building you drive by on your way to work each day, or a lone chair sitting in a random hallway, or a picnic table placed in a lake. There is also the exploration of what emotions can be conjured through the photos; do you feel a sense of uneasiness by looking at dark hallways or empty parking lots that lead to empty buildings? Do you feel joy when looking at animals going about their day? Do you feel peace looking at shades of pink and orange dotting an evening sky? By showcasing a larger array of images depicting numerous subjects, the boundary of what should or shouldn’t be shown or explored together is tested due to the visual contrast between buildings that are slowly decaying, both physically and metaphorically, and other subjects that are more lively and familiar to us. Main Entrance is the concept of bringing subjects that get pushed back into the corner of your mind, a far away reality, into the reality that you are in now.
